Roderic Putnam

Director-Producer

 

Roderic (Rod) Putnam began his career as a Camera operator before transitioning to filmmaker in 2012 with his first documentary "Rocket Dogs No Limits" a film about a liberal arts HBCU and their struggle to compete in the NASA sponsored SLI Student Launch Initiative.

 

He served as Director and Producer on the WWII documentary "Hidden Admiration" a film that examined the question of whether the sacrifices of so many American soldiers to liberate  France and Europe from Nazi occupation was even remembered. The film won several Regional film festivals.

 

He followed Hidden Admiration with " War Brides" a film the examined the largest migration of women in history as more than  million women fled their home country to marry American soldiers and start a new life in American. He was Director on the film.

 

He served as Producer on the film " Intentional Healing". The film follows the journey or a music inustry titan as he deals with a cancer diagnosis. Intentional Healing won for Best Tennessee Documentary in the 2017 IBFFN Festival.

 

 

Director/Producer on the film " With Purpose". The film follows a group of inner city Youths as they search for one of the last known Slave Trade ships off the coast of Florida. With Purpose won the 2020 TIGFF festival for Best Documentary.

 

He believes there are thousands of stories in the world waiting to be told and he wants to tell as many of them as he can. He is based in Nashville Tennessee.

 

In 2019 he entered the television landscape as a producer and currently has three shows under development.
